Miami – Defeating Ohio State, Alabama wins its 18th National Championship in lopsided fashion, 52-24. The game was held at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Both teams, undefeated for the season, played 4 quarters in front of a limited crowd of about 14,000 due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Alabama running back, Devonta Smith, racked up a staggering 3 touchdowns in the first half alone. Smith took home the 2020 Heisman Trophy, which is given to the best performing college football player.
“I heard somebody say he set some kind of record in the first half of the game,” said Crimson Tide Head Coach Nick Saban. Saban won a record-setting seventh title as a head coach.
In a combination of injuries and COVID-19 related issues, Ohio State played with 13 fewer players, including three of their starters. The Buckeyes also played 7 games due to COVID-19, which is less games than any other team in their conference.
Alabama put up over 600 yards of offense, the most collectively all season. Their 52 points are the most Alabama has ever scored in a national title game since 1952.
By breaking multiple records, is this the best version of the Alabama Roll Tide ever?
