Atlanta – Democrats captured the control of the Senate on Wednesday with a historic victory in Georgia’s runoff elections. This assures the democrats of a majority in both chambers of congress. This is a final rebuke to President Donald Trump.
The Rev. Raphael Warnock defeated Senator Kelly Loeffler, becoming the first Black Democrat elected to the Senate from the South. And the 33-year-old Jon Ossoff defeated David Perdue. Both Warnock and Ossoff lead by much greater margins than the required threshold.
The Balance of Power
The balance of power in Washington will definitely be restructured. Democrats will now control the committees, the legislation, and nominations brought to the floor. While the Democrats took control of the Senate, chaos erupted on Capitol Hill with Trump supporters getting into a violent clash with the police. Trump’s supporters interrupted legal proceedings as Congress prepared to certify the 2020 presidential election results.
Trump’s political fallout is now crystal clear. When will the violence and aggression really stop?
