Amid increasing outcry by the public and members of Congress, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy backed down on cost-cutting decisions like reducing overtime work, and removing sorting machines and dropboxes prior to the presidential election. In addition to halting any new operational or labor reducing measures, DeJoy reassured the public that retail hours will remain unchanged and there will be no further closures at facilities where mail-sorting occurs.
