Joseph Maldonado-Passage, also known as “Joe Exotic” from the hit Netflix series Tiger King, has announced his bid for the U.S. Presidency in 2024.
He announced via his campaign website stating,
“Yes, I know I am in Federal Prison and you might think this is a joke but it’s not. It is my Constitutional right to do this even from here.”
His campaign website describes Exotic’s political leanings as Liberatiran, as he plans to run on an anti-corruption platform. His website’s bio section states:
“Joe seeks to run for President of the United States of America to give a voice back to the people who make up this great country. Politicians and lobbyists have too much control over everyone’s lives and rights; he thinks it is time to change this. He believes that if you own your own property and pay taxes on it, the government should not have a right to tell you what you can do on that property.”
Joe Exotic is facing 21 years in federal prison for several convictions, including a murder-for-hire plot and wildlife infractions.
Maldonado Passage has a history of running for office. He led a failed campaign in 2016 for the Presidency and ran unsuccessfully for Oklahoma’s gubernatorial election. Additionally, he attempted and failed to get a pardon from President Trump in 2018, even though Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz petitioned to have him pardoned.
